Dry Vinyl Application Instructions (for small to medium stickers)

Please read carefully before starting

Click Here to download a PDF version of this document

Note: Avoid attempting this outside on a windy day as there will be dust particles in the air.

Do not apply to freshly painted surfaces.
  1. Remove sticker from tube and lay it flat for a few hours. Clean surface thoroughly where the sticker is to be applied and allow it to dry. Dust particles and dirt will cause vinyl to not stick.  Use masking tape to position the vinyl in place. Measure to check for level and square.

  2. Tear the positioning tape and pull the vinyl back so that it will stay hinged from the piece of masking tape. Once it is hinged all the way leave it face down and peel the backing paper away.  Take care not to peel the vinyl with the backing paper.

  3. Hold sticker tight and hinge it back close to the surface but not touching it. Remember that you are guiding it towards the positioning tape to keep it lined up.
  4. Use a vinyl application squeegee or similar (a flexible plastic object, such as a window cleaning squeegee or old credit card) to force the sticker down starting from the hinged side. This removes air from under the vinyl and allows for maximum adhesion. Only force 20-30mm at a time from the centre out, at an angle of approximately 45`. Remember - the positioning tape must line up for the sticker to be straight.

  5. Once you have forced the vinyl all the way use your hand to feel for bubbles under the vinyl. These can be removed using in pin to make a small hole and force the air out with a squeegee.
  6. Gently peel back the front application tape from one side.  If the vinyl stays attached to the front application tape place it back down and re-force it with a squeegee to remove remaining air and re-try peeling the application tape off gently.

When you have removed the front application tape and the masking tape you are finished!
